It has been a DREAM of mine to do a photo session at the almond orchards for so long! One of the reasons it has taken me so long is because they are only in full bloom for a few weeks out of the entire year, so the timing had to be just perfect. I did some research (aka “instagram stalking”) and found some gorgeous blooms up in Northern California. Wish I would have known about these back when I lived in Sacramento!!

But since I’ve been in San Diego a while, I knew I had to plan a trip to Woodland, CA especially to catch these beauties while they were in full bloom. Last year, one of my good friends, Caro got engaged to the love of her life, Nimai (they are seriously perfect for each other) and I was so honored when she texted me soon after, telling me that she wanted to book a shoot! We brainstormed together and thought it would be so cool to do their engagement photos at a unique and memorable location.

After lots of planning, we decided the almond orchards would be the perfect spot! I was definitely nervous knowing that they only bloom for a few weeks out of the year. Since we were both flying to Sacramento, I was praying they were as beautiful as the photos I had seen. I would have felt sooo terrible having us all fly out there to find a bunch of almond orchards with no blooms!! Pat & I arrived a day early to do some location scouting (you can see some behind the scenes on my instagram story highlights) and were totally in love when we arrived! They were as gorgeous and I had pictured and couldn’t wait to get Caro & Nimai in front of my camera the next day. :)

Caro is such a fun and beautiful person, inside and out. Her smile lights up a room and she has the best dance moves and rap skills I’ve ever seen. ;) I met her over five years ago and still remember doing a fun little photo shoot for her in downtown San Diego. After the shoot, we went to dinner together at Seasons 52 and we talked about life, love and what we hoped our futures would look like. I remember her telling me the type of guy she would love to meet one day. It was so crazy to hear her description because shortly after that, this amazing man walked into her life. And he was exactly what she was looking for!

I couldn’t be happier for these two. They are so goofy together, but they are also incredibly intellectual, grounded and caring individuals. Caro and Nimai really are the perfect pair and I had so much fun doing their engagement photos in Woodland, CA at the almond orchards. I’m so thankful they took the risk and trusted me to take these photos in a completely different city, where we had never been before!

I seriously cannot contain my excitement for their wedding in the Philippines later this year!! Pat & I went there for the first time for our honeymoon and I was obsessed. I didn’t want to leave! We stayed at the El Nido Resorts (Lagen Island) in Palawan and we can’t wait explore the beautiful islands more. We’ll be sure to share our adventures!
