Ever since the daylight savings time change, the sunsets in San Diego have been completely breath-taking. However, the first few nights after the time change, I didn’t have any beach photo shoots scheduled. And although I absolutely love when my shoots are held in a woods location, typically you can’t really see the true beauty of the sun setting like you can when you’re right on the beach. I was experiencing major “FOMO” (fear of missing out) when I was scrolling through instagram seeing everyone post pictures of these magical skies and breath-taking sunsets!!

So you can imagine how excited I was when I had a photo session scheduled on the beach a couple days later with one of my favorite families on the planet! This little family holds a very special place in my heart. They played a huge part in my life when I was living in Sacramento and going to school at Capital Christian High School. PJ was one of my basketball coaches, along with LaRon and to this day, I always think back on how much fun that season of life was. I have so many fun memories from my time with those guys and they taught me so much about basketball and about life. I was never an all star ball player, but I’ll always be grateful to them teaching me the fundamentals so I could go on and fulfill my dream to get a scholarship and play basketball in college.

Megan was one of my volleyball coaches and together, her and PJ make the sweetest couple ever. I always remember thinking to myself in high school…wow, they share such a special relationship & have always been amazing role models for so many of us. No matter what happened, Megan & PJ were always on the same team. You could tell by their actions they were best friends by the way they would support each other and also have so much fun together! Megan would always refer to PJ as her “hunksband” and I thought it was the most adorable thing ever.

After I graduated, there was a brief period in my life where I thought I wanted to be a nurse. Megan was working at the school at the time and she had similar goals and desires! We went to a few prep classes together and orientation and before you knew it, we on were on our way! It wasn’t before long that I realized nursing was not for me. I admire the work that nurses do so much, but there was this creative side of me that was dying to be explored. And that’s how I ended up here, pursuing what I love and photographing amazing people every day (while Megan saves lives everyday). ;) haha – so proud of her and all she has accomplished!!

I love this family dearly and was so excited when they told me they would be visiting San Diego and wanted to set up a family session.
