One thing you should know about me is that I genuinely, whole-heartedly care about my couples. I understand that some people are looking to hire just a photographer to do just that…take photos. That’s it. They’re not interested in building a relationship. But let me tell you…one of the most rewarding things ever is when I get to work with a couple during their engagement session. Then wedding! THEN their maternity shoot after the wedding!! They have chosen to trust me with some of the most meaningful events in their life and I don’t take that for granted.

Darlene & Emil are two of those people who have allowed me to document many of these special moments for them. I have gotten to know them and absolutely love hanging out with them each time we get together for a photo shoot! I consider them friends – I mean, how can you not when Darlene & I send each other In-N-Out memes? That’s how you know you’ve found clients who really “get” you! ;)

This maternity session was so amazing. I sent them a few different options of where we could take photos at and they picked a killer location. The light was just dreamy at Los Penasquitos Canyon. What I loved most about this location is that there were so many different spots that looked so different and really transformed the photos into something magical! Half way through the shoot, we drove down this small gravel road and walked up a small hill to find this amazing scenery of the hills and colorful autumn leaves in the background. I was in love! Then put an adorable couple with a cute baby bump in the picture and BAM. It does NOT get much better than that!

Whenever I do any type of photo shoots with couples, I always try my best to explain in the beginning what I’m looking for throughout the shoot. I LOVE when couples flirt a little bit with each other during the shoot. After all, I really want it to be a FUN experience – not miserable, while the mean photographer bosses you around. I come up with different poses and it makes my little photographer heart so happy when couples really engage and laugh and do their best to be in the moment (I know it’s hard when you have a photographer all up in your bubble)! But Darlene & Emil nail it every time. I don’t need to explain myself once you scroll down and view their photos. I’m just in love with the way they giggle and have fun with it. It makes my job so easy and it makes me super excited to show them off!
